Conceptualization
The journey of defense design engineering starts with a clear and well-defined concept and supported by an SRD. This concept is often born out of strategic requirements, threats, and emerging technologies. During this phase, a comprehensive understanding of the problem to be addressed and the desired capabilities of the asset is developed. Brainstorming, feasibility studies, and initial cost-benefit analyses take place to shape the concept.

Requirements Analysis
In this stage, specific and detailed requirements are laid out for the project weather a vehicle for Air, Sea, Land  –  or equipment article. These requirements encompass various aspects, such as functionality, performance, size, weight, durability, and security. The asset’s expected operational environment and conditions are considered to ensure it can meet the intended defense objectives.

Design and Engineering
With the requirements in hand, the design phase begins. This involves various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electronic, control, and software design, as necessary. The asset’s components and systems are designed, simulated, and validated. Prototyping and testing are also key components of this phase.

Integration and Testing
Once the individual components are designed and developed, they are integrated into the final system. Rigorous testing and validation take place to ensure that the asset functions as intended. This phase includes both laboratory and field testing, and it may involve iterations to refine the design and address any issues that arise during testing.

Security and Compliance
Security is a critical aspect of these designs. During this phase, the asset is evaluated for vulnerabilities and potential security breaches. Compliance with national and international defense standards and regulations is ensured to meet the highest security standards.

Production and Manufacturing
